Stone Cottage Woods established
While it isn’t possible to precisely date the structure itself, building clues point to an early 18th century origin, making it one of the oldest historic homes in the area. Read more about the property in the 18th Century.
Durham Company established
Built in 1727 and in blast until 1789, the Durham Company made canon and shot in the colonial wars and American Revolution. James Logan, William Penn’s original Secretary, became the Proprietor’s chief American business representative and held 25% of the initial shares. The other investors were Jeremiah Langhorne, Anthony Morris, Charles Reed, Robert Ellis, George Fitzwater, Clement Plumstead, William Allen, Andrew Bradford, John Hopkins, Thomas Lindsey, Joseph Turner, Griffith Owen, and Samuel Powell.
Johann Abraham & Magdalena Transue move to Durham land
